Track day.

Post by cshrally » Sun Jan 16, 2011 5:47 pm

SOSE are currently in discussions with Glenrothes Motor club with regard to having the use of Crail for a trackday.
This would take place on a Saturday, the date is still to be confirmed but looking at May onwards. Cost of hire would be shared with the motor club however before we go down the route further we need to gauge the interest. Cost would be expected to be around the £50/60 mark for the day.
To make this happen we would need at least 20 cars.
The day is suited for standard cars as well as competition type cars and for those that havent done anything like this we would look at the possibility of a bit of coaching and support on there initial runs.

If this is of interest to you can you please add your name to the thread.

Stu, there wont be a 1/4 mile as we have the track to to what we basically want so wouldnt want to limit ourselves to 1\4 mile of use.
This wont be advertised as a public day as its just a chance to have a drive in our cars away from the public road. We will basically set up some kind of circuit and there has been talk of having sessions for those that just want a drive at a slower pace without the fear of others giving it the beans past them.
The idea is to get people out using their cars without feeling pressurised to give it everything and more.
The chance to drive around at your own pace will be a lot easier on the car than blasting up a strip all day.
It will not be run with road cars in amongst track cars so dont let that put you off the idea.
Any car that has completed the highland tour would find the crail day a bit of a blast. Plenty space at crail for those that need to use it without fear of damaging your car.

Thanks so far to those showing an interest. :thanks:

Shouldnt be as frantic as the 2 hr sessions we have had at knockhill track nights so hopefully a bit more relaxed.
